Samonio is named after the cape at the East end of Crete, which Paul, the Apostle, crossed. The Toplou Monastery’s vines, organically and thoroughly cultivated through the ages, next to famous, exotic Vai palm forest, produce Assyrtiko, the Mediterranean variety which adds to the wines some special fine attributes, in harmony with the rich local history.

Samonion Assyrtiko is a unique version of the Assyrtiko variety, blending Cretan tradition with modern winemaking innovations. It is cultivated in the organic vineyards of Toplou Monastery, next to the majestic palm tree forest of Vai, where the conditions are ideal for its growth.
